Acme @ The Troika

Finally we get the chance to dine in Acme Bar & Coffee, ABC in short. I wanted to try their food so badly as everyone is talking about it. They serve a la carte as well as set lunch with soup and salad. Nice place, but staff lacking smile on her face (the one without uniform, staff leader? manager? whatever)

Prawn bisque soup

Beetroot & apple salad

Breaded chicken leg (set lunch RM49) - served with cauliflower, fries & herb cream sauce. Tastes like Taiwanese fried chicken chop. Speechless...

Grilled butter fish (set lunch RM49) - served with green bean, boiled potato and spicy 'alamak' sauce. Alamak was more to my liking, a little bit too salty but not bad.

Sambal hebi aglio olio spaghetti (RM29) - Dry shrimp spicy sambal with fresh prawns and a dash of olive oil. This is what it looks when Italian meets Malaysian. Looks tempting and spicy? It's exactly what it looks like.

Smoked duck breast pasta (RM 35) - Spaghetti carbonara with smoked duck breast topped with parmesan. Surprisingly good!

Fruit & Ice Granita (RM15/glass) - 'Almost sugarless'(I think) fruit smoothies. Both mango and apple flavor taste bland, too bland

Cempedak cake (RM15) - We were really looking forward to tasting the famed cempedak cake, but my high expectation let me down. Nothing more than a sponge cake with aromatic cempedak cream, nothing seems to impress me us. Undoubtedly unique but overrated!

House, e@Curve

I walked in with my friend not having know there is another House (an offshoot of House at G Tower) in e@curve. Very much similar with the House @ G Tower, the place is clean and nicely furnished with wooden tables and chairs.
Their fusion food menu is suitable for everyone and  there are extended wine list available at the wine post.

Virgin apple mojito (RM13.90) - Fresh apples, lime chunks, mint leaves and brown sugar with a dash of soda. Not bad but a bit too sugary.

Berries booster (RM14.90) - Black grapes, raspberries, blackberries and sweet strawberries. A drink that rich in antioxidants.

Spaghetti Seafood Arabiata (RM29.90) - pasta with mixed seafood, fresh scallop, prawn and mussel tossed in spicy tomato sauce. Quite a divine dish with fresh prawns but somehow I didn't see any scallop and I didn't feel any spiciness as stated in the menu.

Thai green curry chicken (RM19.90) - Served with Thai fish cakes, steamed fragrant rice and crackers. Someone was craving for Thai food but this dish did not satisfy him. (expected). Who would order Thai food in this kinda  restaurant?

Restaurant 10 Binjai

Restaurant 10  Binjai is located in PNB darby park. The restaurant was full when we arrived hence we were seated at the outdoor table.
It can take a while to get your your order so be patient. We spent over an hour waiting time for our meal to arrive. Apologies were forthcoming when we went to ask, the staff didn't seem to be willing or able to speed things along. Waited for 45mins, then came the cut fruit which was not a good sign, how long more are we gotta wait?! I almost yell at the waitress. I've never waited so long for a meal.
First came the pizza, but we noticed the waitress brought us the wrong pizza! We took it because we can't wait any longer.
We were left with no food for a very long time again...
Then we got a half hearted apology from the waiter as when our Tarragon chicken did arrive it was cold. She took it away then returned in less than 10 mins (after microwave i guess)
From a price perspective there are main dishes starting from about RM 12 (pasta) to RM27 (Lamb chop).
To be honest, the food was not so bad with hearty portion at a great price but messed up by extremely slow service and the server would disappear.
Full restaurant always a good sign? Not really

Chilled fruit juices (RM6) - Mango flavor is worth a try.

Al Funghi (RM16) - Topped with mushroom, onion, capsicum and mozzarella. Good value for money and certainly enough for sharing

Bolognaise spaghetti (RM12) - Not bad but not extraordinary either.

Grilled Tarragon marinated chicken supreme (RM22) - Marinated chicken served with garlic maple pumpkin and roasted vegetables.

Bulgogi Brothers @ Paradigm mall

Malaysia's first bulgogi brothers has just opened its door in paradigm mall. Bulgogi brothers is an upscale golgi restaurant in seoul that has been gaining great reputation for serving the best barbecued beef and bulgogi bimbibap.
We ordered the famed BBQ beef and bulgogi bibimbap and we were very happy with our choices.
When you order the grill option, you get a whole great variety of exciting side dishes. The sets came with all the condiments, kimchi, seaweed soup, lettuce leaves, dipping sauces, so much that we were having trouble getting everything on to the table. You'll also be given a large bottle of corn tea. Corn tea (Oksusu cha) is good for those who have high blood pressure, diabetes and kidney problems.

Instead of using a charcoal fired brazier, this restaurant using electronic stove to grill the meat. Hence, the whole place isn't too steamy and it doesn't makes your hair greasy like most BBQ places are.
They serve a variety of different drinks including soju and cocktail.

Yangnyeom Galbi (RM87.90) - Beef short ribs marinated in special galbi sauce. Well marinated and I like the little burnt bits on my meat.

Bulgogi Bibimbab (RM29.90) - A great combination of beef and vegetables, served on top of rice and special spicy sauce. Simple and good.

Help yourself to get the tissue and toothpick in the drawer.

The prices were okay. It wasn't a cheap restaurant but there were options available for less than RM20 that represent good value for money. The staff were absolutely friendly and helpful.
All in all, everything was impressive...And yes! I'm a big fan of Korean food.

Shimino

Japanese crepe is a popular dessert in Japan. Unlike French crepes, Japanese crepes are folded into a cone and filled, not served in a plate.
Like most food imported into Japan from abroad, crepes in Japan have been tailored to suit local tastes. These were addictingly soft and warm on the outside and filled fresh fruit, whipped cream and other toppings. And of course, everything is made to order.

There are a couple of  sweet and savoury filled crepes, but my favourites are the desserts ones, filled with chocolate and banana.

Ice lemon tea (RM2.70)

Beef strip (RM9.90)

Banana chocolate (RM6.90)

Garden Lounge, G Tower

Upon the purchase of a deal from groupon at RM58, I get to sample Hi-tea set for 2 which is worth RM145.

The food just kept coming once we were seated.
Our groupon, as stated, come with sandwiches, cakes, scones bla bla bla  Free flow of tea or coffee...juice cocktail
But to my disappoinment, there was no refill and any juice cocktail provided.

Anyway, we could hardly make it through half of the food that was brought to our table, probably big enough to share with at least 3 peoples.

The pastries wasn't bad but nothing exceptional
The 'mini' cakes can be served as a good emergency food when the fresh food is gone.
The marshmallow, by far the most noteworthy appetizer of them all...but I'm not a fan of marshmallow.

Nothing stood out except for the space and if I rated based on space, this place would received a much higher rating.
Groupon users do not necessaries turn into regular customers if a restaurant incapable to provide good food and good service.
